Calabash, named Best Fundraiser by readers of the North Bay Bohemian in 2013 and 2014, features a silent auction of fine gourd art, along with tours of Food For Thought’s beautiful organic gardens, which will be at their peak.

Gala Downtown Open Space Park Fundraiser at Cork ’s Restaurant

Wednesday, June 19, 6 pm, Gala Downtown Open Space Park Fundraiser at Cork ’s Restaurant.  

Pizza, wine, beer, silent auction, live entertainment—dance with the Mark Larsen Band.  $25/person—all proceeds go towards the acquisition and development of Forestville’s Downtown Open Space Park .

Eatery fundraiser Tues, Wed to support El Mo, Forestville schools

A slew of Forestville restaurants are on board for a two-day fundraiser for El Molino High School and Forestville School and Academy.
The restaurants will donate 20 percent of their proceeds on Tuesday and Wednesday to support programs that would not exist without community support, including sports, music, art and others, according to organizers.
Participating restaurants in “Forestville Food for Funds” include: Cork’s Restaurant at Russian River Vineyards, Carr’s Drive-In, Twist Eatery, Tiny Town, Sunshine Coffee Roasters, Forestville Pizzeria, Tahoe Chinese Food and the Russian River Pub.

Forestville school fundraiser gala is this Saturday

The Forestville Education Foundation is hosting their annual Spring Fling Gala to help support arts, music and sports for Forestville Academy and Forestville School. Together, the K-1 Forestville School and the 2-8th grade Forestville Academy Charter School, serve about 375 students.

There will be food, wine, live and silent auctions and live music from DGINN.
 The event is from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. this Saturday at Shone Farm, 7450 Steve Olson Lane in Forestville. Tickets are $40 at the Forestville School office, 6321 Highway 116; Forestville Pharmacy, Forestville Pizzeria and online at www.forestvillefoundation.org

Gourds galore celebrated at harvest festival

Time to celebrate the lowly but heroic and useful gourd. The annual Calabash in Forestville is Sunday, Oct. 7 from 1 to 5 p.m. and what a bash it will be.

For 12 years Food For Thought has focused on the gourd and art at harvest time. This year Occidental Arts and Ecology Center has joined forces and brought their gardening experience to the garden at Food for Thought. Guests at Calabash will enjoy a sumptuous array of fine food and wine from the county’s bountiful harvest, and live music played on hand-made gourd instruments. More than 100 artists have been invited to work with gourds and bring their work to Calabash...

Golf for a good cause

Friday at the Windsor Golf Course, a golf tournament will be held to raise funds for the Forestville Youth Park. It is one of few privately-owned nonprofit parks in the Western United States.

The Park was established in 1960 by a group of Forestville residents concerned about the lack of safe places for teens and young adults to spend time. The start-up committee had 17 members. They set their first fund-raising event for Memorial Day Weekend, a chicken bar-b-que and carnival. The BBQ has become a successful and fun annual event.

Forestville scholarship fundraiser planned

The Hollydale Club of Forestville is holding a fundraising  Caribbean dinner and show on Saturday (9/8) at 5 p.m.  Along with the exotic fare, there will be some world music entertainment with Pato Benton and the Now Generation. The gala will raise money for the 10^th Annual  Taylor Atkins Memorial Scholarship. Tickets for dinner and the show are $25. Send checks to Hollydale Club, POB 215, Forestville, CA 95436. October 3, Calabash @ Food for thought

One of Sonoma County’s most remarkable food and art events – Calabash-A Celebration of Gourds, Art and the Garden – will take place on Sunday, October 3, 2010 from 1 to 5 p.m. in the beautiful organic gardens of Food For Thought - Sonoma County AIDS Food Bank. This year’s event holds special significance as we are celebrating our 10^th anniversary.
