Donate to Forestville Elementary School and Forestville Youth Park

The Farmhouse Inn has always prided itself on providing guests a true experience of the California wine country lifestyle, and now the Inn's guests are showing how strongly connected they feel to the community by donating funds to the local elementary school and youth park. "This year we joined an exciting micro-philanthropy program called the Good Night Foundation (www.goodnightfoundation.org). The foundation organizes financial support for community non-profits selected by inns like ours. My brother and I both have young children and we support our kid's schools and the education community very heavily. Now our guests are enthusiastically pitching in as well," says Farmhouse Inn owner Catherine Bartolomei.

A Blissful Road Trip Through California's Winelands

I have long believed that one of the most enjoyable wine drives in the United States follows West Dry Creek Road in northern Sonoma. Staying at the Farmhouse Inn puts you in the perfect location to explore this memorable route, as well as the many wonderful wineries in the Russian River Valley. Located in Forestville, 10 miles south of Healdsburg and 23 miles west of Kenwood, the inn evolved from an 1873 farmhouse. Butter-yellow clapboard siding, shuttered windows and a front veranda make it look country simple at first glance, but it is also wonderfully sophisticated, seamlessly merging the rural and the contemporary.

About wine judges

In a Contra Costa Times article about the new generation of wine judges a Forestville person was quoted:

"They (the judges) seemed to be looking for juicy, thirst-quenching examples," says Burrows, who works for Forestville's Farmhouse Inn and consults at Boot & Shoe Service in Oakland, where he lives. Burrows, 35, started judging in his mid-20s at the Concours Generale d'Agriculture wine competition in Paris.

"Millennials are risk takers who understand that without trying something new by experimenting and listening to advice, we will always be drinking the same overpriced, 94-point cabernet sauvignon from Napa Valley," he says.
