Forestville is currently in negotiations with Summit Bank (who now owns the land formerly slated for Orrin Thiessen’s Forestville Town Square) to purchase 8 acres of downtown property so they can turn it into a park for everyone to share. With this purchase, the land can go back to its original intention of being an open space as defined in the original General Plan.

Motorcyclist, 73, dies of Highway 116 crash injuries
A Nevada man died Wednesday morning of injuries sustained two weeks earlier after a Sonoma County teen drifted into the path of his motorcycle on Highway 116 in Forestville -- apparently because she had sneezed.

Vineyard pruning championship brings out the best
The woody, 15-year-old syrah vines resisted mightily, but vineyard worker Laureano Herrera cut quickly and skillfully enough to win Friday's 14th annual Sonoma County Pruning Championship near Forestville.
Sonoma County considers authorizing more water fluoridation studies
The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday is set to advance one of its most hot-button projects: a bid to introduce fluoride to most of the county's drinking water to improve dental health....
The project would affect three quarters of the county, including 350,000 residents served by the Sonoma County Water Agency in Windsor, Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park, Cotati, Petaluma, Sonoma, Forestville and the Valley of the Moon. More than 50,000 Novato-area residents served by the county Water Agency also would get fluoridated water for the first time.

Santa Rosa’s Zazu chefs invent new pig breed, and you can eat it
Oh, those crazy pig scientists, tinkering with perfectly fine swine.
Santa Rosa chefs Duskie Estes and John Stewart not only specialize in cooking pork, now they’re creating pork, coming with what they think might be an entirely new breed.
Estes and Stewart, owners of Zazu in Santa Rosa and Black Pig Bacon Company, raise pigs on their Forestville partner farm. Two of their favorite breeds are the rare heritage Mulefoot and the Red Wattle.

Santa Rosa man killed in Forestville crash
A 23-year-old Santa Rosa man suspected of drunken driving was killed Saturday after crashing head-on into an embankment, CHP officials said.
Mark Edward Church was not wearing a seat belt when he crashed at about 2 a.m. Saturday on Covey Road where it dead-ends at Trenton Road, CHP Officer Marcus Hawkins said.

Police Notice Increase In Violent Pot-Related Crimes In Sonoma County
Sonoma County law enforcement officials say they’re increasingly involved with trying to solve a type of crime that barely existed a few years ago that centers around marijuana.
The slayings of three men on Tuesday in Forestville is just the latest in a string of drug-related crimes. According to investigators, the men were trying to buy a cache of pot when the deal apparently went sour.
Trial in Healdsburg pot garden slaying delayed due to Forestville killings
The trial of two Sonoma County men accused in a 2011 slaying at a Healdsburg pot garden was postponed Thursday because of publicity surrounding a triple homicide near Forestville this week that authorities said was tied to a marijuana sale.

West County Health Centers is seeking a Medical/Front Office Assistant for our Forestville Wellness Center.
We are looking for a dynamic person who is highly organized, able to multi-task for this hybrid position which is a combination of back and front office medical responsibilities. This person should have a commitment to wellness, prevention and community engagement. The Forestville Wellness Center provides integrative and herbal health consultations, osteopathic and acupuncture visits, and a wide array of health education groups.
Our ideal candidate has experience in a medical office/healthcare setting including electronic health records and has completed an M.A. training program. We are looking for someone who is passionate about providing comprehensive, personal, service oriented and high quality patient care to our patients of West Sonoma County. This person is responsible for rooming patients, assisting them throughout their office visit, as well as assisting integrative medical providers, and group facilitators. Other responsibilities include tracking and ordering supplies, helping the front office with confirmation calls and scheduling. This is a part-time, 32 hour/week benefitted position .
Education and experience required:
Completion of M.A. training program preferred.
Current CPR
Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job. Basic office and equipment safety knowledge and practice.
2 years experience in an outpatient setting or working with a health clinic desirable. Demonstrated commitment and skills to provide age appropriate care to a diverse population

3 men shot, killed at Ross Station Road
Three men were found dead at a rural home off Highway 116 between Forestville and Graton, according to Sonoma County sheriff's investigators.
Investigators responded to a 3:13 p.m. emergency call indicating that a person arrived at the home in the 9700 block of Ross Station Road near Douglas Lane and found three bodies inside.
