Job: Veterinary Technician position available
VCA Forestville Animal Hospital
We need 2 experienced technicians with high technical proficiency, one of whom is willing to work 3 days/week on the tech staff and 2 days/week on the reception staff. The tasks we would like proficiency in are as listed: dental cleanings, blood draws, placing IV catheters, monitoring anesthesia, restraining cats and dogs, working in the exam rooms with clients/vets/patients, nail trims, ear cleanings, processing labwork, basic computer skills, interacting with and educating clients, medicating patients (IV/SQ/IM/PO routes etc.), cleaning and disinfecting work stations after use, surgical preparation, instrument cleaning/sterilizing, radiography procedures, good telephone etiquette, good customer service, and good interpersonal skills.
The really juicy stuff that would be nice to posses proficiency in but are not requirements are: having worked as a receptionist, dental radiography, reading U/A slides, reading ear/skin cytologies, evaluating peripheral blood smears, medical math skills, and emergency experience. We have some great people here right now so if you aren't comfortable with any of the more advanced skills I just mentioned, this might be a good opportunity for you to learn them. Needless to say, we also want someone who is caring and compassionate to our pets and clients.
