Crews clear downed tree on River Road near Forestville

Crews have cleared a downed tree that was blocking westbound traffic Tuesday morning on River Road at Westside Road near Forestville, the CHP said.

But not until after a motorist reportedly ran directly into the tree, the CHP said.

There were no reports of injuries in the 8:09 a.m. incident, the CHP and emergency dispatchers said.

Thinking positive for the holidays

“I have never had much money, and I hate to see stuff wasted, which is why I'd rather make or re-use gifts when I can,” said retired teacher Karen Lockert of Forestville.

“But that being said, I still am more confident of my financial security than I was a year ago,” she added. “I feel I can spend more because the economy is stronger and I feel renewed energy around me.
