Man's body recovered from Russian River


A man went wading into the Russian River Sunday evening off Steelhead Beach in Forestville and apparently drowned, reported a Sonoma County sheriff's official Monday.

Former SRJC president Agrella honored at benefit dinner

Robert Agrella, retired president of Santa Rosa Junior College, was honored for his 22-year tenure Saturday night at a benefit dinner and auction.
The event was held at the Warren G. Dutton Jr. Agriculture Pavilion at the SRJC Shone Farm near Forestville.

Japanese-American advocate James Murakami dies


James Fumio Murakami, a Santa Rosa engineer, was national president of the Japanese American Citizens League in the 1970s when the group launched the successful campaign for the U.S. government to pay redress to those interned during World War II.
Industrious until the end, Murakami died Saturday after he collapsed while helping his son change the oil in a tractor on his family's Laguna Road ranch near Forestville. He was 85.
