Forestville home destroyed by fire


A Forestville couple lost their Trenton Road home Sunday night to fire.

The fire was reported at 7:34 p.m., and four minutes later arriving Forestville firefighters found flames raging out of the windows.

RIP Janet Sitton


Janet Sitton, a longtime Forestville resident who served on the school board and was president of the PTA, has died. She was 73.

Sitton was elected to the school board in 1976, beating out former Sonoma County Supervisor Ernie Carpenter by four votes, said her husband of 51 years, Gary Sitton.

Graton and Forestville lose their sweet Sister Gum Drop

Donna Francis passed away peacefully at her home Jan. 5 at age 81 after a brief bout with cancer. She was the “Mom” of the Sisters of Perpetual Cookies, a group that volunteers to bake holiday cookies for the Food For Thought AIDS Food Bank. Her baking name was Sister Gum Drop, and she was a strong force in group, a maternal figure to everyone.

Hitchhiker stabs man who gave him lift

Authorities were looking for a hitchhiker who stabbed a man Saturday night after being picked up near Guerneville, a sheriff’s spokesman said. ... The driver was able to stop the car near Mirabel Road and get the hitchhiker out, Duke said.

$5 dinner specials in Sebastopol/Forestville, and no, it’s not Subway


Beaudry’s Roadhouse has been making a bit of a buzz since it opened before Christmas between Sebastopol and Forestville, taking over the former Henweigh CafĂ© space, which itself replaced the former Elmo’s Steakhouse two years ago.

But what’s getting the locals really lining up is the $5 Wednesday specials, when chef-owner Frank Stephenson sends out hamburgers, spaghetti marinara, turkey burgers, pulled chicken or pork sandwiches, ribs, or whatever else strikes his fancy from 5 to 9 p.m. or until the kitchen runs out.

Russian River Vineyards, with its successful Corks Restaurant, has experienced the cloud of bankruptcy hiding their sun of success, and are now standing in full light. How did they pull that off? Through persistence and personal commitment to their vision...
...Chris O’Neil has much to smile about as they head into spring with the wind at their back and confidence that they can follow the plan to pay back all creditors under the 5 year plan. Life is good, once again, in Forestville.
